Elon Musk buying Twitter has caused quite a stir. Everyone’s wondering what’s going to happen with Twitter. So today, we’re going to be talking about what’s happening with Twitter, what Elon Musk is going to do next, what are some of the features that may be coming out or some of the changes that you need to know about when it comes to Twitter.
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, Twitter was officially sold to Elon Musk for the price tag of $44 billion. Mr. Elon is going to be thinking about ways to get that money back.
Here Are Some Recent Tweets That Elon Musk Made That Are Interesting to Note:
“To be super clear, we have not yet made any changes to Twitter’s content moderation policies.”
And then he also tweeted on October 28, “Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints. No major content decisions, account reinstatements will happen before that council reconvenes.”
What that means is if you did lose your Twitter account and you’re looking to get it back, it’s probably going to happen after this council meets and they go through the discussions of what comes next.
High Likelihood for the Vine App Revival
Elon Musk also recently tweeted, asking if we should bring back vine. The votes are in and 69.6% said, “yes.”
I think the reason why he’s asking this is that he might be thinking of incorporating that app into Twitter somehow or coming up with another new variation of a feature that’s incorporated with Twitter that has the functionality of vine. Elon definitely understands the value of video marketing.
Twitter Layoffs Are Happening and This is Just the Beginning
The Washington Post also shared that Twitter is going to lay off 25% of its workforce in the first round of job cuts. The keyword here is the first round of job cuts. So what that means is this is just the first round, there are probably going to be multiple rounds. Elon’s got the resources and he is ready to just plunge right in and have a game plan of what he wants to do. I’m sure that the game plan will change once the dust settles from the layoffs, from bringing new management on, and from the immediate changes that he wants to make.

Changes Coming to Twitter Blue and Verifications Will Be Paid Feature
Another directive is to change Twitter Blue, which is basically an option that it has currently, where users can pay a $4.99 a month price subscription that unlocks additional features. Twitter Blue was launched about a year ago, and it was a way to view ad-free articles from some publishers and also make other tweaks to the app, such as having different color home screen icons, and many more. Employees working on the project were told on Sunday that they need to meet a deadline of November 7 to launch the feature or they will be fired.
What Twitter Features Do Users Want Elon to Incorporate?
Another hot topic pertains to some of the requests that we’re seeing from users for things that they want Elon to fix.
One of the things that is really high up there on the list is that they want Twitter to get rid of all the bots. Another hot topic is wanting to see how tweets can be monetized, with social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok allowing users and content creators to make money from their content and from their posts they’re curious to see if Twitter can join the bandwagon.
With Elon taking over, people are looking at this app with a whole new fresh pair of eyes right now, and they’re like, wow, why didn’t I spend more time on Twitter? Why didn’t I pay attention to it? Why didn’t I post on it? A lot of people that didn’t post on Twitter for years are now even going back to their accounts and reviving their accounts.
Another high demand that people want to see is an edit button (I heard that they’re going to start testing it or doing it).
Pushback from Celebrities, Lawmakers, and Advertisers
Let’s also talk about the pushback Twitter is getting from certain celebrities, lawmakers, and advertisers since Elon himself is a business owner of a successful enterprise, Tesla. They’re worried about how ads will be affected especially for those in the same industry as him.
One of the other things that happened recently is that the NBA star LeBron James tweeted yesterday that there’s been a surge in people using the racist N-word ever since Elon’s takeover.
We’re still living in a society where things are just not the way they should be and we definitely don’t need to go backward.
Elon taking over was unexpected and came as a shock to many, it’s opening a new chapter for the platform. All eyes are on Musk as he molds Twitter into his vision, the upcoming months will definitely be a roller coaster ride for both the social media platform and its users.
